Sisyrinchium angustifolium 'Suwannee'
Blue-eyed Grass, Suwannee
Cat# 1521 Found by plantsman Charles Webb on the limestone banks of the Suwannee River in Florida, this Blue-eyed Grass is a gorgeous variety of our local species that is shorter, a bit more upright, and very floriferous. It forms nice upright clumps to 8 inches and has bright sky blue flowers in late spring and early summer. It likes full sun or light shade, and average soil that is a bit on the alkaline side. Clumps can eventually spread to a foot or so around. It might look great with any of the Wild Indigos, Stokesia, Sundrops, or 'Morris Berd' Phlox.
