Monardas are plants belonging to the mint family. As such, they have square stems, aromatic foliage and characteristic, showy, unusual flower heads which often form tiers of more or less globose (rounded) flower clusters around the stems. They are widely spreading clump formers - meaning that in good soil, expect your clump to take off! They all prefer full sun and average to moist soil. 'Jacob Cline' Bee Balm is a new variety that is very resistant to powdery mildew (just about the only fault of Bee Balm). It has very large, deep red flowers Cat# 1270

Japanese Climbing Hydrangea is a great vine for part shade and good, moist soil. Growing 20 to 30 feet tall, this variety, 'Moonlight', has heart-shaped, almost succulent, silvery leaves with green veins and 9 inch, lacey, pie-shaped, creamy white flower clusters in mid to late summer. Plants climb by means of "hold fasts" which stick to any surface that is not smooth. This stout vine becomes woody over time with a moderate growth rate. Branches will project out a foot or two from the main stems, and leaves turn a nice yellow in the fall before falling off. The silvery color of the leaves makes it a great choice to brighten up a shady place. Cat# 1424

This fern is noted for its striking silver green fronds. In spring, its fiddleheads emerge with a rosy glow. Clumps normally grow to about 18 inches tall and do best in a little morning sun, and light shade thereafter in good soil. Some bright light is needed to bring out the beautiful coloration. Use the Japanese Painted Fern to add splashes of silver. Cat# 1032
